Water, whether it is in vapor, solid, or liquid form, can cause severe damage to a home. On average, 2% of homes will experience serious enough water damage to require a licensed professional to help with restoration. Luckily, the drying process today is pretty straightforward and much easier than ever before.

The Drying Process

The first step in the drying process is to get rid of all of the standing water out of the floors and carpets.  Then, we create an environment to evaporate the leftover water in the walls, ceilings, and other materials. The air will then become saturated with water vapor, which is then cycled through a dehumidifier. Finally, the dehumidifier extracts the water from the air and warm, dry air is returned in its place.

Every type of water damage is different, and so the process we use depends on a few things. For example, the layout of the affected rooms, what types of materials are wet, and how much water has saturated the area and its contents. Our technicians will decide what equipment to use based on the specific scenario. If needed, water extraction equipment will be used.  Various types of air movers can circulate air in affected areas. Dehumidifiers will push warm air into wet areas and extract the water out of the air.

What You Can Do

Using household fans won’t cut it when you need to dry a home that has experienced water damage. There may be water inside the ceiling or walls, hardwood floors may be wet, and carpet pad may have a barrier layer (called a pet pad). These issues require dehumidifying and high volume airflow in order to restore the damaged materials.  Regular box fans do not offer dehumidifying or enough airflow. If you have water damage in your home, then there are two important things you must remember:

  • Immediate action is crucial. The longer you wait, then the worse the damage will get, and mold will start to spread. Hardwood could swell and rot, carpet backing may breakdown, and drywall could fracture. These materials will no longer be salvageable.
  • Make sure to contact trained and experienced Charlotte water damage restoration contractors that are IICRC certified. Here at Mission Restorations, we have the proper equipment and knowledge to dry your home quickly and effectively. Hiring us will guarantee that your home will experience as little damage and disruption as possible.

How We Can Help

Our goal is to take care of you and your home with the best equipment out there.  Recent innovations have given us tools and equipment that will help get your home back in order promptly, which wasn’t always the case. Not long ago, the training and equipment now used was not available and the restoration process was much more involved.  Contractors would have to remove everything from wet carpets and pads to drywall and hardwood floors. After everything dried, the homeowner had to hire many different contractors to do all of the required rebuilding. It was a lengthy and expensive process.

The continued modernization of drying equipment and better training has allowed us to save floors, walls, and carpets, but speed is crucial.  The quicker we can begin the drying process, the more of your belongings we can save.  This will produce less disruption and lower your costs. Our equipment allows the ease of drying hardwood floors and carpets in place, as well as the inside and out of ceilings and drywall.

Since the improvement of the industry, our technicians have the experience and training needed to make the home restoration process easy and run more smoothly. They are certified by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) in Water Damage Restoration.  Their use of the science of psychrometry optimizes conditions in the home for speedy drying. Psychrometrics is the understanding of how water, air and water vapor interact as well as the environmental conditions that affect that relationship.

As knowledge continues to grow and equipment continues to get better, you can reap the benefits by allowing us to help you. You and your household will experience less disruption and lower repair bills as we efficiently get your home back to its original condition.
